Up for bid is a Maderia collectible Vintage bottle. This is an unopened bottle of Leacock Madeira, "Fine Dry Sercial" in a wicker case that we have never seen before. My husband and I were at an auction of a woman that was 92 years old and she saved everything. My husband loves bottles and saw a box of old bottles and won the bid. After getting home and going through the box we found this unopened bottle of Madeira . Also, my husband believe t may have been a vintage label that has fallen off but we found some information that has helped us date this bottle. It was imported by Julius Wile Sons & Co., Inc. when their address was 2, Park Avenue , New York 16, N.Y. What this told us is that this bottle had to be imported by 1963 because that is the year the U.S. assigned a 5 digit zipcode to every address throughout the country. The Importer included some information about this Sercial and their address still had the 2 digit zipcode "16." Given all the information, our best estimate is that this bottle dated 1939, 1940 or 1941. If you collect old bottles, you will love this one. We also have some old glass decanters that were in this same box if you're interested. Because this is an upopened bottle with alcohol in it, I will need to have an ID with proof of being 21 or older. Please feel free to contact us if you have any question.
