This lot, A MARBLE CONSIGNMENT , consists of a 55/64" (22 mm) hand made "Onionskin" (ca. 1850-1870) in Near Mint (8.6) condition with a couple tiny flakes and surface moons, as well as light wear and pinpricking (examined, as always, under 20-power magnification with strong lighting). It has a somewhat shrunken white outer "skin" covered with blue, pink, and yellow specks and streaks; most of the blue lies on one side of the marble. The basal pontil is ground with faceting, the earliest finishing technique for hand made glass marbles.
