MARGOT DE TAXCO MEXICAN STERLING & ENAMEL NECKLACE & BRACELET This is an exceptionally lovely sterling silver necklace and matching bracelet by Margot van Voorhies Carr of Taxco , Mexico , circa 1948 -1950 . The necklace is solid sterling silver and features a beautiful geometric leaf design in a beautiful red (and black) enamel. The bracelet matches the necklace in design and rarely found together. A stunning piece, quite beautiful when worn! Length of the necklace is approximately 16 inches. Length of the bracelet is approximately 7 inches. The history behind Margot de Taxco is interesting. Margot opened her shop in 1948 and she also created many of the designs for Los Castillo before her marriage to Antonio Castillo ended. Her work is well respected and highly desirable to collectors. Margot designed every single piece that her company produced. According to Morrill & Berk in the great book Mexican Silver, "Margot's insistence on meticulous production techniques resulted in a high level of workmanship for every piece she signed". Owning a piece of Margot's work is a must for any high end Taxco collector. This piece is absolutely guaranteed to be original and vintage, it is NOT a reproduction . The bracelet and necklace both have the appropriate marks and signed Margot de Taxco. Design pattern number is #5867. Low starting bid.
