He inscribed his career total “583 HR”, making this an extremely rare item! The Oakland A’s drafted McGwire in the first round (10th overall) in the 1984 MLB Draft. During his rookie season in 1987, McGwire hit .289 with 49 HR’s and 118 RBI’s, unanimously winning the AL Rookie of the Year Award. His 49 home runs are the most by any player in major league history during their rookie season. McGwire played in Oakland from 1986-1997 and established himself as one of the best players in baseball. Over that time frame with Oakland, he made 9 all-star games and led the A’s to a World Series Championship in 1989. During the 1997 season, McGwire was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals. He led the majors with 58 home runs in 1997 and signed a contract extension to remain in St. Louis. The 1998 season was one of the most memorable seasons in MLB history.
