The best all around horn I've ever owned!! This is a medium bore 1949 Martin Committee cornet. That's not what makes this cornet special, however. This cornet is special and incredibly rare because it was gold-plated (yes, real gold) at the factory. In addition, it was given the extra floral engraving at the Martin factory. This was a special order option on the Committee trumpets and cornets. You may never see one of these again! Before I purchased this one, I had never seen another Committee cornet that was given this treatment. This horn has just been gone over by Charlie Melk, however, this is not a restoration! Charlie realigned the third valve throw ring mount and re-sleeved (just downwind of the receiver) the leadpipe. We both agreed that it should be kept as original as possible so little else was done and replacing the leadpipe, therefore, was not an option. The valves are wonderful (as are all Martin valves of this era). There is very minor thinning of the gold plate on the bell tail and on the receiver ridges; however it's not noticeable unless one looks very close. There is also a few little dings on the under side (facing the valves) of the tuning slide (of course, not noticeable, either). I've taken photos of all these areas and the flaws are so miniscule, you will be hard pressed to even see them, despite knowing
