This is atoy train set made by Louis Marx & Co. It is The Reliable Steam Freight set #2905, part of the Great American Railroads series. This set has a steam engine, a black coal tender, an orange open freight car and a green caboose. The coal tender and caboose are marked Southern Pacific. The set includes eight pieces of curved track and two pieces of straight track, three telegraph poles (one with a broken base) and the blue plastic control box. It also has a product insert pamphlet. This item was an estate sale find and we have no idea whether or not it works. It does show signs of wear and age, but nothing too drastic. The yellow Engineer Instructions sticker adhered to the lower edge of the control box and the blue gauge sticker are loose. The battery compartment of the control unit has a couple of rust spots. The back page of the pamphlet is torn at the lower edge. The cardboard box is in fair to poor condition. It is worn, bent, stained, and has some tears and other damage on all sides.
