Up for bid is an original matching German K98 bayonet with renumbered scabbard in very good condition. Its unsharpened 9 and 13/16 inch blade is marked JOS.CORTS SN on one side, 39 on its spine, and 3281 / f on its obverse. Blade maintains 70% of its original bluing with minor scabbard wear and pitting near its tip. Its tip appears to have been ground a bit (see photos). Handle steel has traces of its original bluing with light oxidation and no pitting. Pommel has two waffen proofs opposite the press stud, one on the press stud, one above its flash guard and an early droop wing waffen proof on the flash guard. Pommel press stud functions well. Reddish brown bakelite grips, affixed with two slotted washer screws, are in good shape with no cracks and some minor scratches. Renumbered matching scabbard is marked 3281 with no f which has been marked over another number (see photos) and its tip is waffen proofed. Scabbard maintains 20% of its original bluing, has no dents, and has some dark oxidation spots. Customers in the USA will pay $9.00 shipping and insurance.
