Silver Vintage Mechanics Sterling Company 1904 ST LOUIS WORLD'S FAIR SOUVENIR SPOON about 5-3/4" with beautiful, crisp detail(my opinion), very good to excellent condition for age--just minor wear, very minor scratches, some discoloration that doesn't detract from beauty (my opinion),this is markedsterling silver on the back. Overall, I think this is a really great piece.Front inscriptions: On handle: floral garland leading up to Water Tower, a banner with St. Louis, engraving of Pierre Laclede Liguest Founder of St. Louis, above that is a steamboat encircled with "City Seal" "Adopted 1823", and at the very top, another banner with "The Mound City"On Bowl: U.S. Government Building Worlds Fair St. Louis 1904Reverse inscriptions: Mechanics Sterling makers mark, Sterling, Columbus Monument, and Eads Bridge.The Mechanics Sterling Company was founded in 1896 in Attleboro, MA when theWatson & Newell jewelry goods company purchased the Mechanics Mill property to expand their products.
