Good afternoon from Congers, NY. I was in another superb home today, and had the opportunity to look at some wonderful things. For now, the only object I can offer you from this house is this amazing porcelain figure- but, oh, my- what a figure. Happy bidding!Meissen porcelain figure of a blackamoor (or a Turk, take your pick) training a stallion. This is after the famous 18th C. group by J.J. Kandler. I am NOT an expert in Meissen porcelain or in dating Meissen; I will guarantee that this is not a copy, reproduction or fantasy item and is an original work from the Meissen factory. I will leave it to you folks to determine the age; given family history on this, we feel that C. 1880-1920 is reasonable. We have not cleaned, restored or done anything with the figure beyond blowing some light dust off before photography. Estate fresh, to sell. The figure is appx. 9.25" to the top of the head, appx. 8.5" from nose to tail. The base is appx. 6.25" x 4.5". The handler is appx. 6.75" from head to feather tip. This is a large, imposing and decorative Meissen item. It is quite heavy, tipping the scales at just under 5 pounds. The figure has some light to moderate condition issues. The fore legs of the stallion have been broken and reguled at some point. The legs are currently held on with discolored masking tape. The pink reins has some losses.
