Burago 1/20 Die-cast Metal Kit with plastic partsMercedes-Benz 500K Roadster (1936) cod 7020KITDIAM 1/20 NDSBarCode 803With Tools & Construction Notes, Begin Assembly, Prototype FactIn 1934, the "500 K" prototype was equipped with an in-line 8.cylinder engine, with overhead controlled by push rods and rocher arms, lateral camshaft, cast iron cylinder block, light alloy sump. The 5093 cc. engine was fed by a vertical carburetor and a Roots compressor which, at 3400 rpm respectively produced 160 and 100 horse powers, with or without supercharging. The chassis was mounted by a De-Dion axle at its rear and a semi-elliptical spring forecarriage with hydraulic brakes and Bosch vacuum power-assist. Thanks to its gearbox, the car had four speeds (three gears and overdrive) which, with a consumption of 35 Litres every 100 kilometres, could arrive at 160 Km/hour. Significant changes were made to the chassis for mass production purposes. At its rear, the De-Dion axle was substituted by helical springs and hydraulic lever-type dampers whilst the forecarriage was mounted with independent wishbone suspensions, helical springs, and hydraulic lever-type dampers.
