MEXICAN POTTERY TALAVERA SUN/MOON ECLIPSE-M_BsA1 DESCRIPTION: This auction consists in a new charming medium size Sun/Moon eclipse, decorated with beautiful hand painted design with an intense contrast of cobalt blue, yellow and white. The colors are incredible, but the picture does not show the real intensity of them. This piece has one small hole on top for hanging, a great decorative piece in you living room or kitchen. MORE SIZES AND DESIGNS IN MY STORE. DIMENSION: This nice eclipse measures approximately 13 1/2" in diameter. HISTORY: Mexico is famous for its pottery work; it has very skillful artisans who make the most beautiful pieces of ceramics in different techniques. The most prominent is Talavera from Puebla which has an influence from the Spaniards who colonized Mexico. When the City of Puebla was established in the now State of Puebla these early settlers brought with them the tradition of pottery making, with italic, Chinese and Arabian influences, this artisans came from Talavera de la Reina, province of Toledo Spain w the most renown talavera is made. T are other states like Tlaxcala, Mexico State and Guanajuato that make this kind of pottery but only the STATE OF PUEBLA CARRIES THE DENOMINATION OF ORIGIN "TALAVERA", even though these states don't have the certificate of origin their work is no less beautiful. This piece in particular is from the state of Guanajuato. CONDITION: The piece is in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks, but it has the usual rough surface and flaws that as with any handmade items these slight variations and "imperfections" add to the beauty of it and make each piece unique.
