Mid century Java Bali Indonesia Wood Carving Teak Beauty Reading Pr. Amidala. A kneeling figure of a Balinese beauty reading wearing a close fitting sarong robe and sash and intently studying a long book or scroll, her hair in an elaborate coiffure of wide rolls ending at the temples and emanating from an crown with scrollwork - a little Star Wars 1 Princess Amidala in nature. Back carved with florals and the ends of the elaborate sash. Base marked with red paint - faintly 622/10 (?) suggesting a date of February 1962, but unknown if that is the date of carving or date purchased or just a code number. Slight wear, minor age cracks (see top of head photo) wear to base. It measures approx. 9-3/4" tall by 3-3/4" by 4-1/2". Be sure to scroll through our many photos to capture all the details!
