VINTAGE CARNIVAL GLASS Millersburg Poppy Compote - Purple~Amethyst Circa 1908 - 1911 Up for auction is a magnificent Vintage Carnival Glass Compete by Millersburg Glass Company. This awesome compote is the Poppy pattern with an Amethyst/Purple base color. This piece stands 6 1/4 inches tall and is 7 1/4 wide at the opening. It has a deep cut exceptional pattern on the outside of the bowl with the leaves and Poppy on the inside. Also has a pattern on the bottom of the base. The stem has a rich deep amber/rust iridescence and the bowl itself is a lovely purple with the same iridescence in the center. The compote is in very good condition. T are no cracks or repairs. T is a very minor flake size chip on one of the scallops on the under side. I have tried to picture this, but it is too small to show up. It is approximately 1/8 inch and very shallow. I also need to mention a spot in the center of the inside of the bowl. It is shown in the pictures. It is under the iridescence, so I believe it to be in the making - a spot w the iridescence did not take. Other that that is is a magnificent piece to display and admire!
