You are bidding on one Beautiful Authentic Ming's Solid 14 K Gold and Green Jade and Opulescent Pearl Brooch Ming’s - Made in Honolulu, Hawaii - Mid 1940's Stamped with both 14k and MING'S on the inside of the gold leaf. This is a gorgeous piece. The white pearls shimmer in a variety of pastel colors when exposed to light. The photos were taken in different lighting conditions to demonstrate the beautiful color variations.This piece and all the pieces I have listed have been pristinely preserved and cared for. No visible blemishes. The gold has some minor surface scratches on some parts but nothing other than from light wear. This piece and all the Ming's jewelry I have listed are in fantastic condition and appear almost new.The photo in this listing speaks volumes for it’s beauty but it is even more exquisite in real life. This beautiful Brooch belonged to my Great Grandmother, Nan Coll. After travelling the world extensively, Nan Coll and her husband, my Great Grandfather, Raymond Coll, editor of the Honolulu Advertiser, settled down in Hawaii in 1920. In the mid 1940's, my Great Grandmother and her sister opened an import store next the famous Ming’ s jewelry store in Oahu and soon became close friends with the renowned designer, Wook Moon, as well as avid collectors of the handmade Ming’s jewelry. Often referred to as... "The Tiffany's Of Hawaii!" The World Renowned Ming's of Honolulu was opened in 1942 just before WWII . Owner and Jeweler Wook Moon designed moderately priced jewelry pieces for woman. His pieces were designed for semi formal to formal attire, with an emphasis on Asian and Polynesian themed styling. Ming's developed a loyal clientele in Hawaii and became rather famous for creating pieces of jewelry for families to give to their daughters and nieces to mark special events and milestones in their lives. The renowned and unique painting process Wook Moon used in his jewelry pieces is still a secret today. In 1999, Ming's of Honolulu closed it‘s doors.. Because of its strong following and the limited amount of Ming's products , Ming's items are highly collectible today for their timeless beauty, precisely detailed craftsmenship, huge following, and the limited supply of Ming’s Jewelry.
