�� MIRACULOUS VIRGIN MARY ~ Antique GERMAN Brass Medal �� REPRESENTATION Beautiful medal honouring the Miraculous Virgin Mary. Obverse pictures a radiant Virgin Mary. Margin reads in German “O MARIA, OHNE SÜNDE EMPFANGEN, DU UNSERE ZUFLUCHT, BITTE FÜR UNS! 1830" which translates to: “O MARY CONCEIVED WITHOUT SIN PRAY FOR US WHO HAVE RECOURSE TO THEE 1830”. Reverse side pictures a radiant Cross, the symbol of Christ’s Redeeming Sacrifice on Mount Calvary for the salvation of the world. At the base of the Cross is a bar, which symbolizes the foot of the Cross. Intertwined with the bar is the letter "M" symbolizing the Mary’s intimate involvement at the foot of the Cross with her Son’s Redemptive Sacrifice. Beneath the Cross and the "M" we see the two Hearts, the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Outside margin shows twelve stars symbolizing the 12 Apostles. ORIGIN & AGE Germany. First half of 1900s. COMPOSITION & SIZE Oval, brass, approx. 1 5/8 inch tall with the bale. MARKINGS No marks.
