The Chicago White Sox selected the lefty in the 38th round of the 1998 Draft and he made only 36 minor league appearances before taking the mound for the big-league team on July 16 2000. Since then he has been a model of consistency and durability pitching at least 200 hundred innings a year from 2001-2006. Buehrle has also earned himself some serious immortality as he played a key role in the Sox winning the 2005 World Series and on April 18 2007 he threw a no-hitter against the Texas Rangers at U.S. Cellular Field in Chicago. The no-no was the 16th in team history the first at home since 1967 and Buehrle actually faced the minimum number of batters as Sammy Sosa reached on a walk and was promptly picked off first base by Buehrle.
