Monarch Automatic Spring Loaded Fish Trap The Monarch spring loaded fish trap originated in Brooklyn, New York and was first patented (#696,013) on March 25, 1902 and later (#1,507,344) on September 2, 1924 by George H. Doering. The trap comes in six versions and is made of spring steel, steel, and a brass rivet. The trap up for auction is considered to be version 4 and is much harder to find. It measures about 3 3/4” long in the sprung position as seen in the third photo. The trap is fully functional and is in great shape. Check the photos for condition and I will be happy to email more if needed. This style trap can be found on page 82 of the book "Spring-Loaded Fish Hooks, Traps, & Lures, Identification and Value Guide" by author's William Blauser & Timothy Mierzwa. I highly recommend this book if you collect fish traps. I only accept PayPal and payment is required within 5 days from the end of the auction.
