WHIMSICAL HAND CARVED MONK STATUE This comical friar with a jolly expression measures about 8 1/2" tall and about 4" wide. The statue is skilfully carved, but bears no artist's signature. Hand carved from a single block of wood, as tree rings can be seen on the bottom (base). The oversized hands and feet--and rotund shape--enhance this fellow's overall charm. A unique and wonderful treasure for those who collect "friar" statues and memorabilia. The requisite tonsure--or monk hairstyle--is also nicely carved into the piece.
