ITEM Moorcroft rimmed bowl - pansy design on blue ground. An excellent example of this sought after combination that would compliment any collection. SIZE 4.4in (11.2cm) wide. 1.5in (3.7cm) deep. CONDITION No damage or visible restoration. Age appropriate wear and light crazing. MARKINGS On underside, 'MOORCROFT' and 'MADE IN ENGLAND' lightly impressed in blue. PROVENANCE There were two principle production periods for worldwide sales of the Moorcroft pansy design, the latter 1955 - 1975 (Walter Moorcroft). This example is from the earlier period, the 1920's and 1930's (William Moorcroft). Observation of the artwork and markings likely dates this to the early 1920's (early ART DECO). Refer to the book 'Moorcroft' 1897 - 1993. There was a third design, Pansy Nouveau (Walter) 1972 - 1973 for the American market inspired by William's pansy design of 1911.
