Up for auction is a multi-signed MLB baseball in various ink signed by Joe Torre, Roger Clemens, Joe Morgan, Clay Bellinger (twice), Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez, Eddie Layton (Yankee Stadium organist for nearly 40 years), Michael Kay (Yankees on-air broadcaster) and Jason Grimsley. All signatures were obtained outside of old Yankee Stadium, when fans used to line up outside of the stadium parking lot waiting for players and other personnel to enter the building. The ball I used was caught by me during batting practice at the stadium weeks earlier, while on my way to attend a June 10, 2000 game against the New York Mets to get signatures that morning I discovered I had a couple different pens in my pocket. I used a red pen for most of the names but was very surprised to see Roger Clemens getting out of an SUV and coming over to where we were waiting to sign for us. His signature is in bold blue ink. Joe Morgan's name is in green ink. It was a great morning that got even better as the Yankees defeated the Mets that afternoon. Times have certainly changed, the latest creation of Yankee stadium makes it difficult to get close to the players and some of the names on the ball are hard to get or charge at card shows so I was most fortunate to get the people I did for free. Winning bidder will also receive a Joe DiMaggio commemorative official read more
