.A very beautiful sculpture, whatever the intent of the artist, or the subsequent use, if any.Although the dot design is classic Papunya, my feeling is that the piece may have been made in Arnhemland. The wood is more dense than the figwood often used t for sculpture, but it does look more like a coastal timber. The centre is completely hollowed out as with a didjeridoo, and indeed it can produce a sound, but I don't know if it could be played. This is also the region for ceremonial posts and bone coffins associated with burial rites, but it would be an unusually joyful-looking item in that context....Length is 40cm. .A unique sculpture, in my experience...Postage will be $38 worldwide. .
