Calcite , and all of its many brilliant colors –yellows, reds, oranges, browns (“phantom”), greens, blues, and many combinations of several of those colors– account for most of the carbonate material in the Earth’s Crust. It is known for its great variety and the beautiful development of its crystals, making it an exceptionally beautiful stone when polished. It is so well spread, that crystallized specimens are found in virtually every country. It has been used for centuries, including for the great Egyptian Sphinx and many parts of King Tutankhamen’s tomb. This is a gorgeous orange specimen. It has muriatic acid on it to preserve it, and it weighs 2 1/2 lbs. In metaphysics, calcite is an astrological sign of Cancer. It is an energy amplifier particularly aiding one in recalling memories.
