Navajo Indian hand made EAGLE FEATHER 15" Rawhide dance rattle signed certifiedArtisan: Fannie MartinezTribal affiliation: NavajoThe Navajo word for Eagle is atsáYes these are traditionally used in Pow wows and dances.This large Navajo dance rattle at 15 inch in length with a rawhide loop at the neck for hanging.The rawhide rattle itself measures about 3 by 2 inches and has been cut, stitched, and molded by soaking in water then formed and allowed to dry. After drying is complete one side is hand painted. Each painting is unique and one of a kind therefore the picture displayed is the rattle that will be shipped.The wooden handle of the rattle is covered in brown leather deer skin attached by antiqued brass tacks.A 1 inch medicine wheel in the center of two hand chipped stone arrowheads adorn the handle middle.Hanging from the leather fringe ends are assorted color glass beads and larger stained wooden beads.The turkey feathers are antiqued and intentionally distressed to give the appearance of eagle feathers caught in the wild.This rattle comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the Navajo artist named above and their census number (the census number is removed from the picture to protect against identity theft).Native American RattlesMan has always loved music and sought out ways to make it.
