This antique Navaho Indian rug/weaving/textile measures approximately 50" x 59" an features a classic 9-point 3rd phase chief's design. The colors are red, white, brown/black, orange, light brown (tan), hand carded gray, yellowish/green, greenish blue, and an aged aniline grayish blue. All wool is handspun except for the greenish blue yarn which is 4-ply Germantown. An old repair in the upper right corner is woven with 4-ply red Germantown yarn. The warp foundation is a mixture of white and dark brown yarns. Considering it is probably 100+ years old this textile is in GOOD condition. The perimeter is 92% intact with roughly 18" of broken or missing perimeter cord. 9" of the warp selvage cord at 2 corners has been restored. Other old repairs at the upper right and lower right corners are pictured up close. There are no significant holes but there are 8 or so tiny holes resulting from broken warps and/or wefts. About 10 places in the interior of the rug have loosened weft as a result of a break or two in the warp. A few dings in the weft from past moth nibbles are also present. This Navajo weaving has not been cleaned and has overall light soiling with a handful of small spots (the largest is pictured). It comes from a smoke free home. Please check out all the pictures and request additional ones if needed. Hangs/lays flat. Both sides read more
