I will begin by saying that I know next to nothing about Native American textiles. Our family was a very active group of avocational archaeologists, but our area of concentration was New York State Prehistory. We'd walk plowed fields all over the Finger Lakes area here in Central New York. As such, lithic studies was more our forte. As it happens, Dad & I were also among the earliest fruit jar dealers in the US. Dad loved to trade old canning jars that we'd find for Indian Artifacts from all over the US. I am confident that Dad traded for this rug or blanket back in the 1960's. It has been sitting in my mother's basement for decades (and sure looks it). Dad used it as a background to display pottery, etc. To call this rug rough would seem to me to be an understatement. In fact, I almost took it to the Syracuse fabric recycle center but then I figured I'd put it "out there" in case anyone wants to adopt and rehabilitate this poor soul. The rug is a generous 41.5" wide and 75.5" long...approximately. It is filthy and needs a cleaning badly. It also is in serious need of repair as you can see in the photos. Maybe someone can see a nice rug under the grime and after needed re-weaving. If not, it's off the that great textile recycle bin in the sky. Please give careful attention to the photos. If you need more pictures just ask. Lucky buyer read more
