ANTIQUE CAUCASIAN SADDLEBAGS (Khorjin), Northeast Caucasus, Shirvan or Baku region, 1st third of the 20th century, and coming in excellent overall condition for the collector. The exact size is: 1'-7" x 4'-5" (48 x 135 cm). A colorful set of saddlebags with diagonally striped "pinwheel" motifs for field designs. One orange dye lot, used very sparingly, seems suspect, but the other colors are all natural, plant-derived, dyes. This set comes complete with its original chevron "bridge' and striped backings. There are small moth bite areas at the edge of each bag (see photos # 2, 4, and 10), otherwise these bags are in full pile condition. The closure loops for each bag half seem to be made of braided camel hair (see photo # 9). They are fresh from source acquisition and long time storage. These bags need to be professionally washed to remove some stains on the front pile, the bridge, and on the back (see photo # 11 and 12). If you have any questions concerning this antique Caucasian saddlebag set, email Michael Phillips or feel free to call my studio phone at .
