Sophie Newcomb College small Cobalt Blue vase This little piece has been in my family since the 20's. My aunt attended Sophie Newcomb college in the late 20's, and I feel sure this piece came to us through her. My thoughts are that this is a 'glaze test' piece, but I could be wrong. It has served as a wonderful vase for pansies, and other small blooms over the years. My aunt was an artist, and probably got this vase to use in her work in florals and botanicals while in school. It measures 2 1/2" tall, and 2" at the widest point. As you can see in the pics, t are no chips, cracks or repairs, but the rim has a rough appearance and feel to it. It has been like this as far as I can remember. It is clearly marked, but includes no potters mark, so I cannot attribute it accordingly.
