This is a great item for any collector of stoneware. This was made by the J & E Norton Company of Bennington VT. It is stamped with the J & E Norton Name that was used from 1850-1859 For being over 150 years old this crock is in great condition. It is a dark ivory color or light brown with splotches of discoloration all over it. This could be from material that was used in the crock such as oils or salts or it may be a result of the manufacturing process and changed color over time. This is a 2 Gallon Crock one of the most sought after. There are no chips or breaks. There is one spot that the glaze popped off and that is in a picture. It is a two handle crock that stands about 9" tall and is 9 3/4" across.
