OLD SETO SNUB-EARED VESSEL This is the rare high-class collectable antique masterpiece of genuine Old Seto dango-mimi (dumpling ears, snub-eared) vessel , from late Muromachi - Momoyama period, circa late 16th century, - which was succeeded among tea masters from generation to generation even if you also understand by checking the pictures and comparing with the other similar pieces. This sophisticated magnanimous heavy vessel is designed by two circle lines at the shoulder area to bring out its brace flavor, and a pair of 'snubbing' ears called dango-mimi are molded above the shoulder as traditional peculiarity of Momoyama period. The aged jikan (scenic crackle) of characteristic natural-glaze dimly but comfortably shines as the calm existence of genuine expert-use old Seto ware. No need to explain ... The condition is very fine for the age, with a thin nyu crack at the mouth-edge part, abrasion at the ears for use, and a few pinholes and kamakizu (kiln-crack) as usual.
