This auction is for two used Transformers: Robots in Disguise figures, Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus . The are the original, separate U.S. releases of the figures: I prefer to sell my "combiner" figures all together instead of breaking them up, even if they were originally purchased individually. This auction is for both figures an all the accessories they came with. If you don't see something in the photos, please ask as it might be obscured. I hate to say it, but a lot of photos I thought were good ended up being blurred when viewed on my monitor. Both figures have some minor wear and tear, but were purchased by me for myself, an adult collector. They did get transformed and posed a lot, because I was quite fond of their ability to combine into Omega Prime , and that is how I usually displayed them. See the pictures for details, and feel free to ask questions if you are unsure. Transformers: Robots in Disguise (2001) was the fairly heavily modified Western adaptation of the Japanese series Transformers: Car Robots (2000) and its accompanying toy-line. It can be hard to place it accurately because the Japanese series was originally a reboot (not continuing the storyline of a past series), but when it was exported from Japan name changes were made to match many characters to those from earlier series and dialogue alterations were added that referenced past American series, though usually not above the level of "in-jokes". Optimus Prime is the leader of the Autobots in the cartoon. In the original Transformers: Car Robots series from Japan he is known as Fire Convoy (in Japan, most of the time the "Prime" part of a character's name is replaced by the word "Convoy"). His vehicle mode is that of a Japanese Hino Brandlier fire truck. Just the cab area turns into the basic Optimus Prime toy: the rest can be turned into a simple "base" mode for smaller figures to interact with in a very limited fashion. Optimus Prime can also combine with all those pieces for a Super Mode. Optimus Prime has four spring-loaded missile launchers hidden in the ladder of his fire engine, and they all still fire. Optimus Prime features light and sound effects, triggered by a button between the halves of his light-bar. It has different phrases that vary according to his mode: how he is transformed presses switches inside the toy so it "knows" what it is supposed to say. This figure actually comes with the original battery as it was still functioning at the time of this listing. Ultra Magnus ( God Magnus in the Japanese version) is referred to as Optimus Prime 's brother in the series, and when Optimus Prime becomes leader, it leads to a bitter rivalry. He starts out the series trying to kill Prime and steal leadership from him. Eventually they make peace with each other and he regularly helps out the Autobots. The toy transforms into a car-carrier truck, and is capable of hauling other figures. From this particular toy line, it can carry Prowl , Side Burn , and X-Brawn (not shown in the pictures to avoid any confusion). I will be listing those three figures Monday June 18th, for anyone interested. Getting back to Ultra Magnus he also features a spring loaded missiles and sound effects. His weapon (apparently named "Blue Bolts" according to supplemental information) has multiple configurations and the sound effects will change depending upon how it is plugged into Ultra Magnus . This is due to there being two small buttons that are depressed by the accessory when it is plugged in. They can be quite touchy, so it may take multiple tries and making sure the weapon is inserted all the way to get the proper sound. Like Optimus Prime , while there is only one button for you to press to activate its sound effects, other switches inside that are depressed by it being transformed alter what it says, with some being appropriate (and usually only spoken) when in the correct configuration.
