The etching is titled and signed by the artist; framed with an elegant wooden frame with glass. Merrill, born in Wisconsin in 1876, is known to be a Impressionist painter and etcher. She studied at the Art Institute of Chicago; New York Art Student League also with artists such as Frederick Richardson. She taught at the Art Student League in New York and Charleston at the South Carolina Museum of Art. Merrill has also received many honors. She became the president of the Sarasota Artist's Association, etc. Eight of her works are in National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C. "Love Lane, Brooklyn" depicts the residential area in Brooklyn.
