This is an original US 1850 Staff & Field Presentation Grade Sword and scabbard which is complete, unaltered in any way and could use a good cleaning. Maker is W. Claugerg Solingen Germany and it is so stamped on the reverse ricasso along with the Knights figure trademark. The guard has the US along with floral motifs and the grip is the sharkskin with wire wrap which is 100% intact and all in excellant condition, although, as I said it could be cleaned up a bit. The blade has the E.Pluribus Unum & Eagle on one side and the U.S. on the other along with military trophies. Blade has a fair amound of tarnish, but no rust and the engraving/etching is sharp....it's just dirty. The scabbard is browned metal with presentation grade brass fittings includind a blank presentation shield along with engraved Eagle and more shields near the drag. All in all, this is a very atractive sword which has only been minamaly cleaned up.....the blade is free of any nicks or abrasions and has not been sharpened in any way. I prefer PayPal for payment. Buyer to pay 20$ for shipping and packing in the US only. If shipping is to outside of the US, it will be buyers responsibility for the actual shipping cost.
