This is a original, 1864 imprinted Presidential election ballot. Vignette of Columbia wearing a helmet, and holding a sword with union on the blade, with a star burst overhead. Miami County, Ohio, Union Presidential Ticket. Election November 8 1864. For president, ABRAHAM LINCOLN, of Illinois and for vice president, ANDREW JOHNSON, of Tennessee.This was five months before Lincoln's Assassination, (WOW) Includes the names of 21 electors,One of the electors on this ballot,John McCook, was a famous " FIGHTING McCooks" of Ohio. During the civil war fifteen members of the McCook family fought for the union cause and of them six became Generals Alexander,Anson,Daniel,Edward,Edwin, and Robert. This ballot measures7 1/4 x 3 1/4" and is in excellent condition.These election ballots were used by Ohio soldiers and were salvaged by a quartermaster and kept in his family for years,WOW thats some history,Dont miss out on this well preserved piece of american history.
