Vintage Orthodox icon of Virgin Mary with Christ called " Galaktotrophusa" - more rare depiction of the Virgin nursing the Child. The icon is a hand-painted copy of an existing original from late 15-16th c from Sheitalovo monastery , made in the same way using egg tempera and natural pigments . Great example of the classical Byzantine iconography. Very precise and delicate work . Size (11.75 x 8.5 inches ) , tempera on board. Certificate on the back with artist and origin of the icon.
