We are offering a pair of authentic Sioux Indian beaded moccasins, sinew sewn on native tanned buffalo hide, circa 1870's. Split tongues beaded in bars of white heart red, cobalt blue and white overlay the vamps, two tin cones originally dangled at the end of each tongue. White heart red, cobalt blue and white geometric designs float on a dark green field, surrounded by a white line that borders the bottom with interspersed white heart red and cobalt triangular designs. A subtle double multiple row band of light greasy green beads run vertical at the toe. In very good original condition. Leather tops are supple, soles are rigid. Virtually no bead loss. Split tongue on right moc is severed on right side and missing tin cones; split tongue on left moc is intact, but missing tin cones. Each measures 10 1/2" x 3 1/2" and stands 3 3/4" tall at the back.
