You are bidding on a gorgeous pair of Royal Copenhagen dinner plates # 183 in the Blue Fluted pattern with the Plain border. The plates have a diameter of 10" and stand about 1" high off the table. They are marked on their backs in green with a crown and "ROYAL COPENHAGEN" in a circle with 'DENMARK" below. A bar above the "A" in "ROYAL" dates both plates to 1938. Below the green backstamps are the three wavy blue lines and to the right of the waves are the initials of the painters in blue with the addition of "x". T is a scratch through the three wavy blue lines on both plates which I believe means they are seconds. Below is the green number 1/183 which identifies the pattern and specific plate. All the markings are under the glaze. The first plate is in excellent like-new condition with no chips, flea bites, cracks, hairlines, discoloration or repairs. It has a few slight imperfections in the glaze but nothing of any consequence. The second plate is also in excellent condition except that it has a tiny crack or split on its edge. It is about 1/8" long on the front and 1/4" on the back. The last two photos show a views of it from both the front and back. It looks like a firing crack that occurred during its manufacture, which would account for its being a second. I DO NOT SHIP OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES.
