This is a rare Paleo Clovis Platter biface. True to the "platter" terminology, this piece measures 7 3/16 inches in length and is 3 3/4 inches wide. It has classic overshot and large diagonal flaking. The theory archaeologists have about these is that they basically served as bifacial cores and were to produce large flakes for cutting and scraping tools until the biface had been reduced to the point that it no longer could produce suitable flakes and was then finished into a point. This biface was found in Christian County, Kentucky and is a great example of the type. It is guaranteed to be 100% authentic and unaltered. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.
