The pen is from about 1954-1956. You can see that on the nib. This pen has got the more modern nib version that was used between 1954 and 1956. Pelikan started to produce the Pelikan 400 with a nib signed Pelikan 585 Karat and nib sice. Nibs with the Pelikan trade mark symbol were introduced in 1954. The shaft of the pen is signed with Günter Wagner Pelikan 400 Germany. As you can see on the picture is the shaft clear and the cap top is fit with the Pelikan tade mark symbol. The pen in the auction has got a 14 C goldnib in B size. The cap band is engraved with Pelikan 400. Pelikan started to engrave the cap bands after 1954 with Pelikan 400, the early versions have no engraving. The filling system works smooth and perfect. A real excellent pen for a collection or to write with. The colour black with striped barrel is real difficult to find.
