Hi t I am selling this cute little azurite & malachite crystal cluster rosette mineral specimen.This piece is very lustrous and a real gem. This specimen weighs 37.55 carats which is 7.51 grams and is 24 mm long by 24 mm wide by 11 mm tall. It is from Juab County Utah USA . If youhave any questions, do not hesitate to ask me. The green color comes from the copper. It forms in a botryoidal or stalactitic form which when cut, gives the agate-like banding or swirling patterns. Malachite is said to strengthen the heart and circulatory systems of the body. It has been used to treat cholera, asthmatic diseases, and thyroid gland diseases. It is said to balance the body and mind. The name Malachite is derived from the Greek word "Malakhe" which means marshmallow plant because of the green color. This stone has a long history with the Egyptian cultures going as far back as 4000 B.C. when it wa heavily mined near the Suez Canal. The stone was used for many different forms of ornamental applications such as in statues and jewelry. One unique use was in makeup the Egyptian women used as eye makeup. The stone was often referred to as the Peacock Stone because of the eye like pattern it has which resembles the eye like pattern of peacock feathers. Malachite is a popular stone which has light and dark green banded areas. Many beautiful specimens of malachite contain special combinations with other minerals, such as azurite, cuprite, or chrysocolla. Malachite can be found in Zaire, USSR, Germany, France, Chile, Australia, Arizona and New Mexico/USA. Pigments Azurite was used as a blue pigment for centuries. It was formerly known as Azurro Della Magna (from Italian). When mixed with oil it turns slightly green.
