LURES Pflueger - Medalist #1498 The Medalist 1498 fly reel is Pflueger's heavy duty model designed especially for Salmon, Steelhead, Bonefish & Tarpon fishing. Only the 1498 is equipped with an extra reinforced back plate that allows for expansion of the spool in heavy fishing. T is a line shedding guard that prevents line from catching on the drag knob. It has a larger drag mechanism for extra braking capacity, and large capacity spool. Other features include a stainless steel line guard, adjustable drag, and adjustable weight so that you can balance your outfit. To adjust weight remove center plate and add lead shot. Has quick release spool. It can be converted from right to left hand retrieve. The 1498 weighs 8 3/4 ounces, is 4" in diameter and has a 1" wide spool. The reel comes in box with reel features & parts sheet. It is in excellent working condition, showing light wear. The box is in very good condition and is dated on the bottom 1963.
