Pieta by Michelangelo Mary and Jesus in Bonded Marble ("White Oxolyte") by A. Santini, Signed, Made in ItalyThis is a gorgeous statue by famous sculptor A. Santini of the original Pieta by Michelangelo. It is entitled "Pieta" on the front, signed on the back by "A. Santini" and also stamped "Italy"This statue is 7.75" tall by 6.75" wide by 3.75" deep. With it's base it stands 8.5" by 7.25". It is VERY heavy, weighing 4 lbs, 12 oz.On the bottom of the statue is a tag "Oxolyte Lucide/White Oxolyte which is a type of bonded marble. The base appears to be slate. It is in excellent condition - no chips, no cracks, no crazing, just needs a little cleaning. This came from my mother's estate.This is a beautiful piece. It was professionally appraised at $150.
