STRAWBERRY with Plain (No Pattern) BackMarigold Carnival GlassRuffled Rim Bowlcirca 1908Made by theHarry C. Northwood Glass CompanyWheeling, West VirginiaApproximate Dimensions8.5" (Diameter)2.5" (High)3.375" (Base Diameter)This is a very pretty marigold carnival glass (iridized) 8-ruffled bowl featuring the pattern " STRAWBERRY " made by the Harry C. Northwood Glass Company of Wheeling, West Virginia, circa 1908. There is no pattern on the back. The plain back makes this item more scarce.Great condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations. The iridescence has a very soft, pastel-like look with lots of pink, aqua, and purple undertones. Just lovely. The pattern is well-articulated and unmarred. An astounding piece! There are the usual internal air bubbles and straw marks (shearing and crimping tool marks) commonly associated with the hand manufacturing of old carnival, opalescent, stretch, and EAPG. Each piece of this old fabulous glass is unique, no two pieces are identical.Source : Heacock, William, James Measell, & Berry Wiggins (1991), Harry Northwood: The Wheeling Years 1901-1925 .
