Offered is a pair of wire biscuit prickers also called spider biscuit prickers since they resemble spiders and their webs. They both are in very good condition. The larger pricker (pic. 2) measures 4 1/4" high and 3" in diameter with 9 prongs. The smaller pricker (pic. 3) measures 4 1/8" high and 2" in diameter with 7 prongs. The biscuit prickers were used to prick or stamp the dough for crackers. Early crackers were called biscuits, hence the name biscuit pricker. The dough had to be pricked so it would not rise during baking and the cracker or biscuit would be flat. This pair of wire or spider biscuit prickers will be a nice addition to an early kitchen or wire collection.
