Offered is a lot of 4 very nice antique carved shell cameos. They are in wonderful undamaged condition, ready for mounting or display in your collection. The first depicts the scene of Phoebus and the Hours, or the procession of Dawn- with Eos leading the way, guided by the genius of light in putti form, and Phoebus in his chariot surrounded by the Hours. It is very detailed and crisp, in caramel and cream colors. It measures 2" by 1 3/4". Very clean, no chips or cracks. The next looks like Athena and Psyche with Cupid. This is done in a sardonyx shell, chocolate with white. The dark background is highly polished. It measures 1 1/2" by 1 1/8". No chips or cracks. The next is a bust of the goddess Diana, with her crescent moon and a nice Helenistic hairstyle. It has a highly polished background, three layers of shell used. Beautiful patina. This one measures 2" by 1 1/2". No chips or cracks. The last is a scenic one, a pastoral scene with Victorian era children playing with a cart, going over a bridge. There is a large tree over them, a house, trees and a fence in the background. Highly detailed, no chips or cracks- just some internal lines visible when held to the light.
