On Feb. 17, 1928, while returning to his duties at Kelly, he crashed his AT-4 on take-off from Gorman Field, Texas. Ironically, Capt. Randolph was serving on the committee to select a name for the new airfield at the time of his death.RANDOLPH FIELD was dedicated June 30, 1930, with an estimated 15,000 people in attendance, and a fly-by of 233 planes, possibly the largest assembly of military aircraft in the world. This photo is used in Good (G) condition, very light edgewear to corners.
