Living on the coast of North Carolina and loving oysters as we do, it was a natural inclination for us to accumulate a collection of over 30 different oyster plates over the years. However, we lost interest in collecting oyster plates about ten years ago, when the market became increasingly flooded with reproductions - a disheartening situation which continues today - and which I'm sure, many of you collectors are aware of. Our oyster plate collection has since then been languishing away, hidden and unseen, in drawers and cupboards with no one to appreciate them and I find its once again time for some Spring House Cleaning! Although I would not be considered an expert; the oyster plates I am offering this week are described to the best of my ability and are all "as found", prior to 1998- before the rather obvious "Nippon" with its telltale pink hit the market and tby starting, to our dismay, the deluge of copies and reproductions that began to appear everyw with increasing frequency, as well as artistic inventiveness! Please check out my other oyster plate listings, t are sure to be some great bargains for collectors of authentic antique and vintage pieces and I will be happy to combine shipping.
