is a nice example of the trilobite Calyptaulax callicephalus from the middle Ordovician, Sugar River Formation, New York State. This species is a beautiful trilobite but seems to be very sparse in it's distribution making it hard to get for collectors. Even in formations w this species is present, such as the Sugar River, fragments are hard to find, and complete specimens are extremely rare. This cephalon is in very good condition and measures about 1cm or 1/4 inches. It has a nice shiny black shell and both eyes are intact with nice lenses, although t is some damage to one of the eyes as shown. The glabella is very "phacops like" with nice big postules and round bulbous appearance. At the front of the cephalon is the interesting "pointed tip" which is the classic definition for this species. This trilobite is great for the collector trying to build species examples.
