This auction is for a rare and hard to find Fenton cranberry opalescent hobnail decanter, made from 1940-50 only. This gorgeous piece has the original stopper and is pre-logo [not marked] as it was produced much prior to the time frame when Fenton began marking their glassware [1971]. The decanter measures 12" high with the stopper in place; the stopper itself measures 4 1/2" in length. Both the decanter and the stopper are in near mint condition - no chips, cracks, repairs, no cracked hobnails, no chips or flea bites on either piece. Normally, t are chips on the stoppers, but not this one. T is a very minute, manufacturing flaw on the inside of the neck of the decanter in the form of a 1/2 inch tiny line w no cranberry was applied. It is not a crack, and is being mentioned just for clarity. T is no water staining on or inside the piece and I doubt it was ever used. This piece has beautiful opalescence, even-color [t is a lot of camera glare in some of my photos] and can be seen on page 101 of the Fenton Glass Compendium, 1940-70 by author John Walk.
