McCoy Pottery Rare Black Glaze Frog with Umbrella For your consideration please take note of this McCoy rare black glaze with yellow cold paint frog with umbrella figural planter. The piece measure aproximately 6 1/2" tall and about 8" wide. It is marked on the bottom McCoy. Umbrella has the factory issued metal handle. This is a very hard to find and rare item of McCoy especially black. The majority of McCoy frogs are usually green with the umbrella in yellow. Shown in the Sanford Guide to McCoy Pottery Book. Manufacture time line - 1930 - 1940s. Condition - Good; No chips breaks or cracks. It does have crazing and it is dirty in the interior of the piece (easily cleaned by the new owner). The underneath has glaze loss - see picture. T is also cold-paint loss on the body of the frog. The metal handle is missing one of its rubber holders (easily found at hardware store). The previous owner placed scotch tape around it to secure it to the frog. Therfore, the umbrella is a bit unstable. With a little TLC and the correct rubber connection the stability can be fixed. I guarantee this piece to be original and vintage and not restored or repaired other than as I described. Would make great addition to your collection at a great price - don't let them pass you by!
