Up for auction is an absolutely gorgeous NORTHWOOD Amethyst Carnival Glass Punch Bowl Set in the Grape and Cable pattern. The colors are incredible, in the famous purple, turquoise, burgundy, orange, green, gold, and of course, due to the ash in the firing, a lot of silver in some pieces. And, yes, folks, it's the same set that's published on the cover of Warman's Collectible Book. On page #195, the top dollar price for a mint set is $3,500.00. (The book will also listed in a seperate auction if you are interested.) The entire set is in very good to excellent condition, with some cups in almost mint condition. Approximate measurements of punch bowl (on it's glorious stand:) are 10.5" H x 11" W, and the base alone, is approximately 5.5" H x 6.5" W. The cups of course, are standard vintage-size, approximately 4.25" at the widest point, (including the handle), and 2.75" T. My guess is an 8 oz size? To avoid a repeat of questions to interested bidders, I am going to be extremely detailed in this listing. Some people may see flaws in reading these remarks, and others will understand and appreciate the following: THIS IS NOT A NEW PUNCH SET FROM MACY'S! THIS SET IS AN ANTIQUE AND IS BOUND TO HAVE SIGNS OF USE AND MANUFACTURER IMPERFECTIONS! With that said, DO NOT BID ON THIS ITEM IF YOU EXPECT PERFECTION! The bowl was used and loved by my great grandmother, showing swirl marks from the ladle. I discovered one, very tiny flea bite on an interior edge of one of the ruffled edges which is impossible to see without intense scrutiny and touch. The stand I purchased, also very rare and hard to come by, is also in excellent condition and an extraordinary color match! VERY DEEP PURPLE & VIBRANT. The only teeny flea bite the stand has, is invisible when used becuse it is located in the interior edge of the top and covered with the punch bowl. The eight punch cups are equally spectacular, with little variations, some more purple, some golder and some more silver in color. As expected, some have a few ash flecks from firing which is typical but very minimal. These cups are all in excellent vintage condition with only one, being very good condition, as it has one, teeny-tiny fleabite, almost naked to the eye, without very intense scrutiny and only by rubbing a finger over all the rims can it be discovered. It fools you, as it looks as if to be an ash fleck, and it's located next to a handle.
